Tender Round 7 under the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap is expected to open in early Q4 2025.

The NSW Minister for Climate Change and Energy has directed ASL, as the Consumer Trustee, to conduct a competitive tender to bring forward an indicative 500 MW of firming capacity, prioritising projects located in the Sydney-Newcastle-Wollongong area.

NSW is projected to experience firm capacity shortfalls for the summer of 2027-28. A range of measures are in progress to meet the state’s energy security target, with this tender offering additional assurance as NSW transitions to a renewable-based energy system.

Following the Minister’s direction, ASL is preparing the tender and will call for firming infrastructure projects to bid for Firming Infrastructure Long-Term Energy Service Agreements (LTESA) in Q4 2025.

Further information on the tender will be released over the coming months.
