Tender Round 6 under the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap is now open for Project Bids.
Eligible proponents in NSW are encouraged to submit bids for Long Duration Storage (LDS) LTESAs.
This tender round has an indicative target of 1 GW (at least 8 GWh) of LDS projects. It is open to all eligible projects in NSW seeking an LDS LTESA that can be operational by 2034. As the NSW Consumer Trustee, AEMO Services is able to award LDS LTESAs above or below the indicative tender volume where it is consistent with the applicable requirements of the EII Act.
The tender is designed to support the delivery of high-quality electricity infrastructure that is in the long-term financial interests of NSW electricity customers.
More details on the LDS LTESA and tender process can be found in the Tender Round 6 Documents tab.
Minimum targets for LDS
Under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act (EII Act), AEMO Services has two legislated targets for LDS infrastructure. These are:
- 2 GW and 16 GWh by 2030; and
- 28 GWh by 2034.
These targets are minimum objectives and where AEMO Services identifies a need to procure infrastructure beyond these targets and it is deemed to be in the long-term financial interests of NSW electricity customers, it will do so.
