AEMO Services’ Chair Paul Moy is stepping down from the role at the end of October following the company’s Annual General Meeting.
A process to select a new Chair will commence shortly, in the meantime AEMO’s Chair Mary O’Kane will be Acting Chair of AEMO Services following the Annual General Meeting.
Dr Moy was appointed in March 2022 and has overseen AEMO Services’ establishment, growth and maturation as a delivery agency for the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap and most recently the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme.
Under Dr Moy’s leadership as Chair, AEMO Services has successfully designed and delivered a tender process and Long-Term Energy Service Agreement products to help secure investment in NSW generation, firming and long-duration storage infrastructure.
Four tenders have so far been completed, resulting in 2,452MW of generation and 574MW of long-duration storage infrastructure being secured, along with 1,075 MW of firming capacity.
AEMO Services has also delivered on its other functions as the NSW Consumer Trustee, with three Infrastructure Investment Objectives Reports, authorisation of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone and the appointment of the Financial Trustee.
Dr Moy leaves the Board and management team in a strong position to continue delivery of its important work for the energy transition.
