Paul Verschuer has informed the AEMO Services (ASL) board, that he has decided not to extend his term as Executive General Manager.

Paul has led ASL since the company was founded two years ago and has achieved a great deal for electricity customers in New South Wales in that time.

In building ASL from the ground up, Paul has played the central role in hiring and developing a leadership team, designing the auction process and products, and establishing governance frameworks.

During this time, ASL has taken tangible steps towards driving down energy prices, boosting the local economy, and helping NSW meet its net zero ambitions.

The ASL team has delivered much of the NSW energy transition roadmap. This includes developing three Infrastructure Investment Objectives reports. These reports established the path for ASL’s first tender, that awarded contracts for 1,400 megawatts of new generation.

ASL has also worked extensively to appoint the Financial Trustee and support the establishment of the Scheme Financial Vehicle, both critical entities under the roadmap.

The ASL leadership team is in a great position to carry on the organisation’s work in NSW and work with AEMO to deliver the Commonwealth’s Capacity Investment Scheme.

Paul’s replacement will be identified in a process that will commence shortly.
